Recently , the CO-WIN  app ( also called  covid vaccine intelligence Network) is introduce in order to manageing and monitoring COVID -19 vaccine available to the general public .for the purpose of Covid -19 Vaccination programm.

 Government on 16 January  launch vaccination programme for COVID-19.  At present two indian vaccine get authorisation of emergency use .these two vaccines are:-

1. Serum institute based - "Covishield " 

2. Bharatbiotech based - " Covaxine" 

In the first two stages the government willVaccinated priority groups including frontline workers and  emergency workers. People withcomorbities will get the vaccine in third stage for this self registration is required through the cowin app. 

Some key points about this app

  • Cowin is an upgraded version of electronic vaccine intelligence network (eVIN) and available to download for free on the play store.
  • Cowin platform is a cloud based IT Platform that is helped to handle minute details for india's covid -19 immunisation programme .
  •  By using this app the user will be able to self registered  for covid 19 vaccine . it including registering benificiarries , allocating vaccination centre , sending text messages with name of their vaccinator to beneficiariaries and live monitoring of vials in cold storage.
  • The cowin app will have four modules that are :- 
       Administration module , Registration module,  vaccination module,  benificiary acknowledgment module .

Agencies involved in it

  • It is owned by ministry of health and family welfare. 
  • It was earlier the platform used for conducting pulse polio and other crucial immunisation programme across the country.


What is the benefit of this app :- 

Those who will be pre- registered on this app will get all information related to vaccine  and get the vaccine at the earliest as soon as any vaccine will be launched for use .




All covid 19 vaccine related  information like delivering , availability and accessibility will be uploaded on this app . So it will help to get all information regarding vaccine at one place .  

People who want to get vaccination will have to apply and provide details under the registration module , their details will be verified and benificiary module will send the  certificate to them about their vaccination. .
