Union minister Prakash javadekar has announced that " covishield " vaccine is the first one to be approved for emergency use in India . The "oxford University - Astrazeneca based covishield vaccine -is become indias first vaccine approvedfor emergency use.
Who manufacture covishield
It is manufactured by the serum institute of India with colaboration of oxford university. SII headquarter- present in Pune . The oxford University - AstraZeneca vaccine was first approved for use in the UK on December 30.

Second vaccine that is approved is "covaxin"
The second vaccine that has got emergency use authorisation is " COVAXIN " manufactured by Hyderabad- based "Bharat biotech " with collaboration with Indian council of Medical Research .
On 16 January , large vaccination program has been launched in which 3 crore vaccination target has setup . Although target is not achieved at same day bit the program has been implemented .
Who get vaccination in first phase ?
In the first phase 30 crore people will be vaccinated .
Out of these 30 crore , there are 1 crore healthcare workers . as they run hospital and management of health.
* After that Frontline workers like police , ambulance driver and volunteers that are estimated approximately 2 crore in numbers .
* at last all those people having age more than 50 year will be vaccinated having 27 crore population of this category.
The government aims to complete the first phase of vaccination by August 2021. The timeline for the rest of the population are not known as yet. Government has said that high risk groups would be vaccinated on priority.
India has also decided to provid vaccine free of cost to the country like maldive and Bangladesh .
