The Nepal government decided to measure the exact height of Mount Everest because of the debate that there might have been a change in it due to various reasons, including the devastating earthquake of 2015. So Nepal recalculate the height which is now 8,848.86 meters ,which is officially announced by country's Foreign Ministry Pradeep Gyawali in Kathmandu .

Mount Everest is known as Sagarmatha in Nepal and is the highest Mountain peak in the world .
In Tibetan mount Everest is known as Qomolangmai.
Mount Everest gets its English name from sir George Everest , a colonial era Geographer , who work as a Surveyor General of India in the mid - 19 th century.
It is 200.86 m above to the world's second- highest mountain, K2 which is 8, 611 meter tall and located in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
