Antimicrobial Resistance: A serious threat for health 


Antimicrobial Resistance  is a serious issue for health and now become life threatening day by day . It is growing exponentially and need to tackled before it late. It is very important that people have some awareness regarding this issue . Present time no one talk about this serious issue . AMR is growing at an alarming rate. 

What is the meaning of  Antimicrobial Resistance 

Antimicrobial Resistance is a situation in which microbes create a resistance  against drug which we take due to which the impact of antibiotic on these  microbe become meaningless. It shows microbe like bacteria and other change in response to use of these medicines .

Reason behind it 

The study show two reason for the widerspred presence of AMR. 
 
1. One of the reason is immense use of antibiotics , as doctors these days prescribe antibiotic doses for all kinds of disease either it is needed or not including for common cold .

2. The other reason is self- medication by patients as the patient buy drug from healthcare practitioners without any prescription from doctors .

Even though antimicrobial Resistance is acknowledged by policymakers as a major health crisis , a serious threat of life .

  • Antimicrobial Resistance is one of the biggest threats  to global health , for plants and animal . To all human etc
  • It can affect anyone , of any age in any country .
  • The misuse of antibiotic resistant occurs naturally and affect a lot to all living being.
  • Globally , about 35% of common human infections have resistant to medicines.
  • About 7 lakh people die every year because available antimicrobial drugs - like antibiotics,  antivirals , antiparasitic and antifungals all become less effective  at combating pathogens .
  • India is the largest consumer of the antibiotics in the world , which is the serious problem . 
  • Study publish in the Lancet , 58,000 new-born children die annually from sepsis in India alone because antibiotics can no longer treat certain bacterial infections. 



UNEP identified antimicrobial Resistance as one of the six emerging issues of environment al concern in its 2017 Frontiers Report

What will be the consequences in future
A report from Interagency Coordination Group on Antimicrobial Resistance (IACG) puts the fianancial fall - out in perspective . This report say about Uncontrolled Antimicrobial Resistance will cause global economic shocks just like 2008 - 09 recession . With nearly 10 million people estimated to die annually by 2050.
Health care cost , and cost of food production will spike , while income inequality will widen
